The +1 Button:Now Faster Via Webmaster Central Blog
One of the 10 things they hold to be true here at Google is that fast is better than slow. They keep speed in mind in all things that they do, and the +1 button is no exception. Since the button’s launch, they have been hard at work improving its load time.They’re proud to announce two updates that will make both the +1 button and the page loading it, faster.
First, they’ve begun to roll out out a set of changes that will make the button render up to 3x faster on your site. No action is required on your part, so just sit back, relax, and watch as the button loads more quickly than before.
In addition to the improvements made to the button, they’re also introducing a new asynchronous snippet, allowing you to make the +1 experience even faster. The async snippet allows your web page to continue loading while your browser downloads the +1 JavaScript. By loading these elements in parallel, they’re ensuring the HTTP request to get the +1 button JavaScript doesn’t lead to an increase in your page load time. For those of you who have already implemented the button, you’ll need to update the code to the new async snippet, and then you should see an overall improvement in your page load time.
To generate the new async snippet, use their +1 Configuration Tool. Below, you’ll find an example of the code, which should be included below the last /g:plusone tag on your page.
If you haven’t already implemented the +1 button on your site, they’re excited for your first experience to be a fast one. This is a great opportunity to allow your users to recommend your site to their friends, potentially bringing in more qualified traffic from Google search. How to Add the +1 Button to Your Blogger Blog

“+1” is often used as a digital shorthand for “this is pretty cool.” It’s also a way for friends, contacts, and the rest of the world to find great things on Google search. Google launched the +1 button back in March as a way to help share web content and make search more personal and relevant. For more information about the +1 button, you can watch this short video:
Since Google made this feature available, web publishers and bloggers have been asking us how they can add the +1 button to their sites, including Blogger blogs. Today, we’re excited to let you know that you can add the +1 button to Blogger blogs with just a few clicks.
To add the +1 button to your blog, you’ll need to enable Share buttons on Blogger. To do this, go to Design > Page Elements on your Blogger dashboard, find the Blog posts area, click on Edit, and select the “Show Share Buttons” option. If you are already using Share buttons, the +1 button will automatically show up as a new share option.
By adding the +1 button to your blog, you’re providing an easy way for your visitors to recommend your posts to their friends right from your blog. Here’s how it works: Let’s say you blog about biking. One of your readers, Tom, finds your recent post about mountain biking interesting, and clicks on the +1 button. Now, when Tom’s friends and contacts search for biking or mountain bikes and your post appears in Google search results, they might see an annotation showing that Tom +1’d your post, helping your content stand out.

We hope +1’s will help your blog stand out better in search results, which could increase both the quality and quantity of traffic to your blog. Now, that’s indeed a big +1, isn’t it?
The +1 button for websites: recommend content across the web
Since we started rolling out the +1 button in March, you’ve been able to recommend content to your friends and contacts directly from Google search results and ads.
But sometimes you want to +1 a page while you’re on it. After all, how do you know you want to suggest that recipe for chocolate flan if you haven’t tried it out yet?
Today, we’re releasing +1 buttons to the whole web. As a result, you might start seeing +1 appear on sites large and small across the Internet. We’ve partnered with a few sites where you’ll see +1 buttons in the near future:
You'll also start to see +1 buttons on other Google properties such as Android Market, Blogger, Product Search and YouTube.
+1 is as simple on the rest of the web as it is on Google search. With a single click you can recommend that raincoat, news article or favorite sci-fi movie to friends, contacts and the rest of the world. The next time your connections search, they could see your +1’s directly in their search results, helping them find your recommendations when they’re most useful.
In the meantime, we’re continuing to roll out the +1 button for English-language searches on Google.com. If you want to +1 search results and search ads earlier, you can opt in through our experimental search site. To see recommendations from your friends and contacts in Google search, make sure you’re signed into your Google Account.

How to Add a Share Button
Some of my custom blog design clients ask me to install a "Share" button when I'm creating their blogs. There are many ways to do this and many scripts / buttons available to choose from. The method I'm going to explain is my favorite and it's also the easiest. You don't have to do anything other than copy and paste a little bit of code into your template. Granted, tinkering with your template is not something you should do unless you've got at least a bit of knowledge about it, but in the case of Blogger.com you can always preview your changes and see if it worked before saving -- if it didn't work you can clear your changes and either start over again or find someone else to install it for you.
Add to Any Share Button
The button and script I prefer is that of Add to Any. I like the colors and I like the options and I like the way it's graphically designed. If you'd like to have this share button show up at the end of each blog post you can add this to your blogger.com blog template in the following way:
- Step 1: Go to your Blogger Dashboard
- Step 2: Click on 'Layout'
- Step 3: Click on 'HTML'
- Step 4: Check the box that says "Expand blog widgets"
- Step 5: Scroll downward until you find the bit of code that looks like this <data:post.body/> This code will be quite a ways down and may be difficult to find. If you're having difficulty locating it you can use the Find function in your browser. To do this with Firefox, click EDIT in your menu bar and then highlight FIND. When the box appears at the bottom of your screen type the code into it and you should then be able to find it quickly.

- Step 7: PREVIEW it! Do not save it yet! If you've made an error it either won't be possible to preview at all (and it will tell you that there is a code error if that's the case) or you will see a preview that has changes you didn't want to make. If that happens, DON'T PANIC. Simply click the blue CLEAR EDITS button at the bottom of the page and start over.
- Step 8: If you got everything right and you're happy with the results, click SAVE.
- Step 9: Enjoy your new Share Button!Time For Comments Now.....!!!
