Spyware has been rampant since 1994. It was a pretty famous, SPYWARE is used is the Gator. Spyware is still exist to this day. In line with the development of technology, semulanya spyware intended for advertising business. But now all has changed, the spyrware used for destructive purposes.
Spyware Categories
SPYWARE has several categories, namely:
1. Trojan/backdoor
2. Adware
3. Keylogger
4. DDoS agent (zombie)
5. Sniffer, password crackers
6. Browser Helper Object
7. examples of P2P kazaa.
8. RAT-Remote Access Tool/Trojan.
If we see there is overlapping with an anti-virus solution which is the trojan. Anti-virus solutions are generally able to detect the presence of Trojans in our system. However, for other categories such as adware, P2P, hacker tools, generally anti virus did not include this category in their detection.
Then why aren't tools like sniffer is classified into spyware? There's a reason behind it. As we know that the tool could have two side sniffer which side of a good or useful to administrators.
The Sniffer can be used by administrators to perform ' tracing ' or analysis packages in their network. Network Load utility is to know the bandwidth capacity also use sniffer technologies. Tool IDS-Intrusion Detection System based on network also using sniffer technologies for detecting intrusion in a network.
But on the other hand turns the sniffer can be used for the purpose of which is not good for example for sniffing the user-id and password that is used in a network. So if the existing system of authentication does not use encryption for a password and user-id or a ' plain-text ' then a sniffer can easily view your user-id and password.
In addition there are categories of spyware that people gladly to meng-installnya i.e. P2P – Point to Point software such as Kazaa for example is P2P for sharing files-which is very popular. In this there is an awful lot of Kazaa adware advertising software-– because that is where they get the profit. Categories to be included in the ' user ' means the user awareness installation that does not trigger the installation itself or via embedded installation e.g. When do download or access to the Internet.
